Delivery of CH-47F Chinook transport helicopter to Spain
The fifth of the CH-47F heavy transport helicopter, which Spain ordered from the US-based Boeing company, arrived in Spain. The fifth CH-47F has arrived at Spanish Army Aircraft Force headquarters in Colmenar Viejo, north of Madrid. After the final adjustments of the helicopter, it is expected to serve in February.
Spain had begun to modernize 17 CH-47D helicopters in its inventory. The first batch of helicopters modernized by Boeing was delivered to Spain in February 2022. Unlike the other four helicopters, communication equipment developed by the Thales company will be used in the fifth helicopter delivered. Communication equipment developed by the Thales company will also be used in other helicopters to be delivered.
Egypt signs deal with Boeing
Boeing signed a contract with the US Department of Defense earlier this year for 12 CH-47F transport helicopters to be produced for Egypt. According to the agreement, 12 CH-47D helicopters in Egypt's inventory will be replaced with the top model CH-47F. The total cost of the contract is $426 million.
Ken Eland, Boeing Vice President and CH-47F Program Manager, following the signing of the contract, stated “The F model helicopter will enhance Egypt's Chinook capabilities and help it achieve its heavy-lift goals effectively. Boeing's partnership with the Egyptian Air Force remains strong."
Delivery of CH-47F transport helicopters to Egypt will begin in 2026. CH-47F is used by countries such as Turkey, Australia, Iran, Greece, Italy and Thailand.
